Pack animals
Mongolian families frequently move from one
pasture to the other by truck. Now, and in most remote
areas however, they move with all their equipment and
gers by carts. Fuel is very scarce and the Mongols is
reverting back to more economical and reliable ways of
moving their mobile camps. The carts are tied to
whichever animals are available in the region.
In Arhangai we will use yaks and horses, and in the Gobi
camels and horses. For treks to Hagiin Har Nuur, deep in the Khan
Khentii taiga wilderness we use pack horses due to the rugged terrain, The services of some herdsmen will be
hired for the expedition, and they will provide us with
animals and their services. Some of these herdsmen have
never dealt directly with foreigners before, so we have
adopted our needs to their capabilities.
