Post and Telecommunications

The Central Post office in Ulaanbaatar is however refurbished. Stamps and post cards are available also at late hours. International telecommunications is available here. Please be aware that telecommunications from Mongolia are expensive due to the use of satellite service for overseas calls. Collect calls are not available. It is possible to call abroad from the major hotels. There is a Poste Restante counter at the Central Post office.

Recent years a number of Internet cafés have sprung up around Ulaanbaatar, where you can get online and send emails. The cost is around USD 2 per hour. There is one conveniently located next to the Central Post Office.

Each village has a post office with a derelict phone from the past. Provincial capitals have been phone communications at the post office and usually a internet facility during work hours.
