Frontier Lands

Nomadic Journeys have recently embarked on extending our trips slightly beyond the Mongolian borders, in exciting neighbor destinations in Russia and China, which allows land border crossing either by train or vehicle. New land border crossings have been open for passport holders of third countries between Russia and Mongolia, which extends our services to the Russian Federation Republics of Altai and Buryatia. Both with sizeable numbers of indigenous people such as Mongol Buryats, Kazakhs and Altai peoples.

You may enter or exit Mongolia via the Russian cities of Barnaul in southern Siberia or Ulan-Ude on the eastern side of Lake Baikal. As well as through Jining in China, which is the railway junction for Inner Mongolia. Ulan-Ude and Jining are connected to Ulan Bator by rail.
